You know I’m excited – we did it again with 5 out of 6 division wins yesterday in MetrO #5 at Lansdowne! And we’re in the finals in Divs 4, 5 & 6!! #HappyCaptain!
Here’s a summary of our amazing results:
- Div 1: Our combined BN/SH/IK team were narrowly defeated by GO 28-27. But you know what? That win by GO, plus our win against BF in MetrO #4, meant BF didn’t win overall, for the first time in a very long time. So we can be happy knowing we contributed to that 🙂;
- Div 2: A massive victory for BN, 32-17 against GO;
- Div 3: BN defeated GO 29-23;
- Div 4: BN defeated GO 33-22;
- Div 5: BN absolutely dominated this race, winning 37-18, leaving GO with just the back end of the scores; and
- Div 6: Another no-contest here, with our Div 6 team copying Div 5 by taking all the big scores and leaving not much for WHO.
Congratulations to everyone, with our runs of the day going to:
- Bob Morgan, 2nd place in Div 4;
- Sheralee Bailey, 3rd place in Div 3;
- Adam Brodie, 3rd place in Div 5; and
- Heidi Miliss, 3rd place in Div 6.
Notable mentions also to:
- Matthew Thomson, 9th in Div 5 at his first MetrO league and beating his dad!!; and
- Andy Povah and Linda Mandin, finishing 5th and 6th in Div 6.
All the results and links have been updated on the MetrO League web page here: https://onsw.asn.au/events/metro-league
Which brings us to the next round, the final. Here’s how all the Divisions look going into the final at St Ives on September 17:
- Div 1, GO are 4 points clear and have won the trophy regardless of the last round result (Div 1 and 6 are first past the post). BN will be up against WHO for 3rd place;
- Div 2, BF (1st) will face GO Dragons (2nd) and BN will face UR-CC for 3rd place;
- Div 3, GO (1st) will face SHOO-IKO (2nd) and BN will face KNOX for 3rd place;
- Div 4, BN (1st) will face GO Monitors (2nd) for the overall win;
- Div 5, KNOX (1st) will face BN (2nd) for the overall win; and
- Div 6, BN and SHOO-IKO are equal first, with us ahead on ‘for and against’. It’s a hard one because they are our Div 1 buddies, and now we have to battle against them!
There will be a presentation ceremony as soon as possible following the last round where the divisional trophies and 5 medals per winning team will be handed out. Any additional medals and the individual medals will be handed out at a later date.
Details for the MetrO League final are available here on Eventor: https://eventor.orienteering.asn.au/Events/Show/18247
It’s on Sunday 17 September 2023 at St Ives Showground, and the MetrO teams start from 10am.
Remember I will submit everyone’s entry into Eventor, and BN will pay for your entry too.
Can you please let me know if you would like to have a run, and whether you want to run in Division 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6. There are plenty of tracks to use and courses should be set well by BF. Hopefully we have as many members as possible come along and join a team and if you would like a run, but don’t want to be in a team, let me know which division you want to be in, and I’ll include you in our entries. We are only allowed to include members in our official finals teams if they have run twice in MetrO already this year, but unless we’re up for the win, we’ll probably be ok including anyone. I’ll submit our entries the day before.
See you there!
