Last Sunday Bennelong hosted Round 1 of the Metro League series on the Pennant Hills Park map, starting from Thornleigh Oval. Course Setter Wayne set some challenging and fun courses around this small urban bush area. While there were track options that could get you close to the controls, there was certainly an advantage of going bush. Wayne had managed to pick out the most open bits of bush for those legs and took us through some great sandstone rock. With a lot of us being a bit out of practice with bush navigation, out of practice with bush running, and some steep hills in the mix the finishing times were a bit high. The winner on Division 1, Alistair George, finished in 41:35, a bit over the target 35 minutes. Check out Winsplits here to see who lost time on which legs.

Competition scores and runner times are available here.

The next round will be hosted by Garingal Orienteers at Mitchell Park on Sunday 15 April. If you are after a bit more practice before then, why not try Bold Horizon's training weekend, starting on Saturday 14 April at Lapstone and continuing after the Metro at Mitchell Park on Sunday.
