Results: MetrO League 5 - Pennant Hills

Full results here!

Lost and Found here!

It seems that the rain gods decided to give us a break after the NOSH and put on a nice dry, albeit slightly chilly day for the MetrO League at Pennant Hills. Terry Bluett set this year's course, covering completely different areas to last year's course from Joel. With some clever planning Terry managed to keep us running on dry ground. There was a fair amount of running on tracks as the bush in the area is pretty thick; There wasn't going to be any advantage in trying to shave off a couple hundred metres between controls if you were likely to get marooned in the middle of a shrubbery! That said, the tracks weren't always a picnic either with some uneven rocky surfaces - not so bad on the downhill if you had the knees and ankles for it but a killer on the uphill for everyone. Bennelong managed to take Divisions B and D this round thanks to some strong performers and a full complement in all the teams. Special thanks to the Halmys who had a runner in all our divisions!

  Division B
Win! Bennelong Northside 33 Garingal Dragons 22
  Division C
Loss Bennelong Northside 22 Western and Hills 33
  Division D

Results: MetrO League 4 - Centennial Park

The sun surprised us all and made an appearance for the fourth round of the MetrO League series. Celebrating 40 years on the Centennial Park map, Uringa put together a nice suite of courses at Sydney's city park. Mostly flat, the biggest challenges were the boggy grass and the masses of cyclists, runners, prams and vehicles that swarm the park on weekends. Unfortunatey we were down on numbers this round and we couple only field 4 out of 5 possible runners in each division. Thanks to a surprise attendance by Richard Morris and his best Division B time of 27:23 we were able to take the lead in Division B. Carl Supit, Bennelong's newest member achieved a time of 58:04 in Division D, doing quite well in his first ever MetrO League event. Also new to the club this year, David McGhee continues to show he is a strong contender, with our best time in Division C.

  Division B
Win! Bennelong Northside 30 Uringa Harriers 24
  Division C
Loss Bennelong Northside 24 Southern Highlands 30
  Division D
Loss Bennelong Northside 24 Uringa Kites 30

Results Online - The Great NOSH Footrace 2012

The Great NOSH Footrace today was perhaps the wettest NOSH yet, but that didn't stop the crowds. A total of 357 competitors took on the challenge. The water-laiden trails meant it wasn't going to be a record-breaking year but the finishing times were still quite impressive. Congratulations to our top three place getters:

1st Jamie Stewart 66:14
2nd Timothy Stiel 66:21
3rd Richard Banks 66:58

Full official results can be found here!

Why not check out the event photos on our Facebook page, here. We have photos of most finishers up to 90 minutes.

Special thanks go out to all of the volunteers who made the event possible: Bennelong Northside Orienteers, Big Foot Orienteers, Garingal Orienteers, Southern Highlands Occasional Orienteers, Uringa Orienteers and the Western and Hills Orienteers. Special thanks too go to Kuringai Council for Lindfield Oval, Manly Council and Seaforth FC for use of Seaforth Oval and their excellent food, NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service for maintaining the trails and allowing us to use the park, and the Orienteering Association of NSW.
